The Australian Boomers have stunned the United States of America in their second pre-Olympics warm-up match in Las Vegas, taking an eight-point victory.

It comes following Nigeria's stunning victory over the USA two days ago. Team USA, coached by Greg Popovich, have only been in camp for less than a week, but it raises concerns surrounding their upcoming Tokyo Olympics campaign.

Australia registered their second straight victory of the warm-up matches, having beaten Argentina on the back of a Patty Mills buzzer-beater over the weekend.

Mills was again at his best against the USA, scoring 22 points in the victory. Ten of those came in a final quarter blitz as Australia took a 91-83 victory.

Making the victory all the more special was being behind 46-37 after an incredibly difficult first half, the Boomers' defence struggling to get stops.

By the end of the third quarter though, the Boomers had turned the deficit into a five-point advantage.

The bench and defence came good down the stretch, and even though the Boomers fell behind in the final few minutes, they were able to snatch the lead back, and held a five-point buffer heading into the final minute.

When Kevin Durant was blocked by Matthew Dellavedova in the final 40 seconds, before going coast to coast and having Mills sent to the free throw line, it was a case of game over, the Boomers recording their second victory in three years over the USA after beating them in Melbourne during the lead-up to the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Australia will take on Nigeria tomorrow and the USA again on Saturday morning (AEST) in their lead-up to the Tokyo Olympics.
