Andrew Bogut appears set to rejoin his former NBA team the Golden State Warriors.

Following reports last week that Bogut was attracting significant interest from both the Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers, The Athletic's Shams Charania this morning confirmed that the freshly-minted NBL MVP's management are working through a deal to send him back in the Bay Area.

The deal will likely still see Bogut returning to the Sydney Kings for the beginning of the 2019 NBL season, with the Kings to give Bogut clearance to return to the NBA for the remainder of 2018-19.

Speaking at a media conference on Tuesday Morning (AEDT) Warriors head coach Steve Kerr confirmed the reports.

“I'll just cut right to the chase and tell you that we have been talking with Bogut and his representatives,” Kerr told reporters, declining to answer any further questions about the deal.

Bogut spent four seasons with Golden State from 2012 to 2016, winning a championship with the team in 2015.

The Warriors traded Bogut to the Dallas Mavericks in 2016 to free up cap space for two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant.

The Australian big-man would provide invaluable backup minutes behind four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins, who made the stunning move to the club on a greatly reduced $5.3 million salary for the 2018-19 season.

The Warriors are heavy favourites to win their third-straight NBA championship, sitting atop the Western Conference standing with a 44-19 record.

Bogut will look to become just the second Australian with multiple NBA rings, after Luc Longley won three straight championships with Chicago from 1996-98.
