Roger Federer and Any Murray both survived five-set thrillers to advance to the semifinals of Wimbledon.

Federer survived three match points and a two sets to love deficit to defeat ninth seed Marin Cilic, 6-7, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.

Federer looked to be on the brink of defeat, as he trailed two sets to love and 0-40 down at 30-3 in the third set.

However, the 17-time Grand Slam champion managed to hold serve, before breaking Cilic's serve and closing out the set.

He then survived a match point in the third set, before closing it out in the tiebreaka nd then winning the final set 6-3.

He will now face Canadian Milos Raonic, after the big serving Canadian defeated American Sam Querry 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.

Meanwhile, Andy Murray defeated Frenchman Jo-Wilfred Tsonga in a five-set epic, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 4-6, 6-1.

Murray will face Czech 10th seed Tomas Berdych, following his straight sets win over Young Frenchman Lucas Pouille.
